In the life of every Catholic who desires to follow the Lord more closely, there comes the day when we have to ask the Lord about our vocation. That means asking Him about the concrete way He is calling us to serve Him and tell others about Him. For most people, the path of holiness is marriage, but the Lord chooses and calls a few to consecrated life.
It can be frightening to ask ourselves about our vocation. But do not be afraid. God wants for you only what is good for you and has already thought of a beautiful path for you, whatever it may be. In the words of St John Paul II, “Do not be afraid. Open wide the doors for Christ.” Open your heart, your life, your worries, your difficulties, your joys and your affections to his saving power and let him enter your heart. In the words of John Paul II again, “Do not be afraid. Christ knows ‘what is in man’. He alone knows it.”
