Fraternas at WYD Sydney 2008!

Responding to the invitation from Pope Benedict XVI to participate in World Youth Day from the 15th to the 20th of July, 15 Fraternas have traveled to the city of Sydney, Australia, to lead groups of young people from various countries where the Marian Community of Reconciliation is found.

Our community in Australia has had the blessing to be involved in the preparations for WYD since last year and they were part of the organizing committee that hopes to welcome more than 125 thousand youth from across the world.

One of the programmed activities for the WYD is the VOCATION EXPO or vocational fair where different religious communities will be present to give the youth the opportunity to get to know their particular charism. The Fraternas will be there to show our vocation to the pilgrims.

On the 16th of July the community of Fraternas in Sydney have organized an encounter with all the members of the Sodalit Family that are participating in WYD.

On the day the Church celebrated the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Most Reverend James D. Conley was ordained Auxiliary Bishop of Denver at the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.

The principal consecrator was Most Rev. Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M.Cap., Archbishop of Denver together with two co-consecrators Most Rev. Paul S. Coakley , Bishop of Salina and Most Rev. Michael O. Jackels, Bishop of Wichita, both from Kansas.

The Fraternas were able to participate in this day of great joy for the Church in northern Colorado and had the opportunity to meet Bishop Conley and receive his blessing at the reception after Mass
